Bluegates Farms is seeking a dedicated, full-time Herdsperson to join our team and assist with our 340-cow dairy herd. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a modern, well-invested farm in North Hertfordshire, with a commitment to high standards of dairy farming.

Farm Details:

• We operate a year-round calving system and feed cows using a new RS Agri feeder wagon.
• AI services are contracted through Genus, and nutrition is managed via Kite.
• In recent years, we have made significant investments in our dairy unit, including:
  • A Delaval 24/48 parlour with a complete handling system and calving yards
  • New silage clamps built in July 2023
  • SenseHub heat detection for improved breeding management
  • Additional cubical housing and slurry auto scraper systems
  • Feedlync feed management software for efficient feeding

Key Responsibilities:

• Feeding cows with high attention to detail
• Milking and maintaining a clean, tidy milking environment
• Calf rearing and ensuring proper care for youngstock
• Managing feeds and feed stores, keeping everything organized and clean
• Working as part of an experienced team to ensure the smooth operation of the dairy unit

Essential Skills:

• Tractor driving experience and loader driving skills are required

Additional Opportunities:

• If your partner is interested in farm work, there may be a further position available to assist with calf rearing and routine tasks.

• Location: Based in North Hertfordshire, near Ashwell
• Accommodation: A 3-bedroom cottage is available with the position if required
