Employee Status: Seasonal Worker
Areas of Employment:
- Crop Production: Vegetable, strawberry, fruit, and flower enterprises
- Animal Husbandry: Dairy farms and mixed farms
Period of Work: 4 to 6 months
Responsibilities:
- Crop Production:
- Work in greenhouses and open fields
- Picking vegetables (e.g., cabbage, cucumbers), fruits (e.g., apples, cherries), strawberries
- Washing, packing, soil preparation
- Flowers:
- Tying, feeding, cutting flowers, fertilizing, packing
- Animal Husbandry:
- Milking cows, feeding livestock, herding sheep, making electric fences
- Fieldwork on a tractor (plowing, disking, cultivation), general farm work
Accommodation:
- Provided by employers, equipped with necessary amenities (individual rooms or shared rooms for 2-3 people, shared kitchen, bathroom/shower).
- Transport provided if accommodation is far from the workplace.
Salary & Benefits:
- Hourly Pay:
- First 2 months: 135 NOK (13.5 EUR) per hour
- After 2 months: 139.90 NOK (14 EUR) per hour
- Piecework payment for certain tasks (e.g., strawberry picking) may provide higher earnings.
- Average Monthly Salary: 1300 - 1500 EUR (after expenses)
- Expenses:
- Accommodation: 300 - 350 EUR
- Food: 300 - 350 EUR
- Taxes: 500 - 600 EUR
Social Protection:
- Eligible for free medical and emergency medical care.
Program Costs:
- Real Staff Service Fees: 300 - 600 EUR (depending on the vacancy)
- Immigration Fee: ~650 EUR
- Visa Fee: Approx. 70 EUR (subject to local embassy rates)
- Travel & Insurance: Cost varies depending on local airlines and insurance companies.
Application Timing:
- Best to apply by January 1 for the year of work to secure a spot.
- Processing time for the work permit: 3 - 6 weeks.
Requirements:
- Age: 20-40 years
- Previous agricultural experience (practical work)
- Good health and physical condition
- Proficiency in English (interview required)
- Driver's license and ability to drive a tractor (often required for livestock farms)
- Sufficient funds for program registration
